Indian indices are likely to rise at the opening bell today after falling in the past four trading sessions. Asian markets have ignored the overnight losses on Wall Street . The US stock markets ended lower while the European markets managed snatch gains.

The IMF has slashed India’s GDP growth projection to 6.1% for 2012. But, the RBI is unlikely to get swayed by slowing GDP as inflation remains sticky. The IMF has cut global growth forecast for 2013 to 3.9% from 4.1% predicted in April.

Investors will watch Federal Reserve chief Ben S. Bernanke’s testimony before the Congress later today. World markets could shift either way depending on what Bernanke says about the state of the US economy and the American central bank's monetary policy stance.
